How to capture and activate a new site

‍

The site capture tool lets you onboard a customer to AURA from their doorstep, on a phone. Capture the site once, choose monitored or self-monitored, and it is ready for dispatch.

‍

What's changed

‍

A technician or salesperson can now register a customer's site and activate it for response while they are still on site. The tool runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install, and everything captured is saved straight to the customer platform.

Each site is set up in one of two ways:

  • Monitored: the site is linked to its monitoring centre using the centre's own reference ID, so the site details reach them without re-keying.
  • Self-monitored: you manage the site and the customer account from your own admin dashboard in the customer platform.

Role-based logins mean field staff see the capture tool and nothing else. Dashboards and reporting stay with management.

‍

Three site capture screens on a phone: the site sections, a point of contact form, and the monitoring reference ID form

‍

How to capture a site

‍

  1. Create a new site. Open Fixed Locations and select Create.
  2. Set the location. Enter the street address, or switch to LAT/LNG or W3W for new builds, rural sites and large estates. Check the pin, then add a Location name.
  3. Classify the site. Choose a Site category, which is required, then a Site type (Optional). See the reference below.
  4. Add information. Add an entrance note, photos from the phone camera, access codes, known site risks and any supporting documents.
  5. Add site instructions. Write any further instructions responders need on arrival.
  6. Set a point of contact. Add their name, mobile and email. Tick Primary contact for the person who receives the web dispatch tracking link, and Receive incident report for everyone who should get the report. Select Add point of contact for more.
  7. Attach task lists. Choose the checklists responders must work through on scene.
  8. Choose monitored or self-monitored. For a monitored site, tick Configure monitoring partner settings, enter the External reference ID from the monitoring centre, and select Alarm monitoring, Video monitoring or both. For a self-monitored site, leave it unticked.
  9. Save. The site is live in the customer platform and dispatch-ready.

Site categories and site types

‍

Choosing a category filters the site type list, so only matching types appear.

  2. Construction: Construction Site, Housing Development, Vacant Lot, Agricultural Land
  3. Industrial: Factory, Warehouse, Plant Machinery
  4. Infrastructure: Solar Farm, Railroad, Mobile Network Tower, Fibre Infrastructure, ATM
  5. Office: Office, Business Park
  6. Public Sector: School, University, Medical facility, Courthouse
  7. Retail: Shopping Mall, Bank, Restaurant, Hotel, Shop, Service station
  8. Storage: Storage facilities

‍

Things to know

‍

  • You can save a site before you have the monitoring centre's reference ID. It shows as Unmonitored in your site list until the ID is added.
  • Sites can be edited later, for example to update access codes or photos on a maintenance visit.
  • Existing portfolios can be uploaded in bulk. Use the exact category and type wording listed above so reporting stays consistent. Frequently asked questions

FAQs

Do field staff need full platform access?
No. Administrators can create logins that give technicians and sales staff the capture tool only.
What if the address is not recognised?
Place the pin on the map, or use the LAT/LNG or W3W tab. The exact coordinates are saved with the site.
Who is told when a response is on its way?
The primary contact receives a web dispatch tracking link during a response. Everyone marked to receive the incident report gets it once the incident is closed.
Does AURA replace my monitoring centre?
No. AURA provides the physical response and works alongside your existing monitoring centre. See integrations.
