Johannesburg, South Africa, 10th March 2026 — AURA, a life saving technology platform making emergency response services more accessible and affordable, today announces the appointment of Taryn Winer as Global Head of People.
Winer joins AURA’s executive leadership team at a pivotal moment in the company’s growth, following its €13.5 million Series B funding round last year and accelerating international expansion, particularly across the United States.
Founded in 2017, AURA is building the global infrastructure to protect people when it matters most. Through its smart auto-dispatch and routing platform, the company enables individuals and businesses to connect instantly with the nearest vetted private security and medical responders — making life-saving help accessible anywhere, anytime. Since inception, AURA has saved more than 8,500 lives, with 1.2 million people now connected to its personal safety solutions and over 200,000 properties secured via its fixed-location services.
As Global Head of People, Winer will lead AURA’s global talent and culture strategy, with a mandate to elevate performance, strengthen organizational standards, and support the company’s rapid scaling across multiple markets. Based in the United States, her appointment underscores AURA’s long-term commitment to North America as a core growth region.
“At AURA, technology is a critical enabler, but our greatest competitive advantage has always been, and will always be, our people,” said Warren Myers, co-founder and CEO of AURA. “As we scale globally, nurturing the exceptional talent already inside AURA and attracting the very best people to join us is vital to our mission.”
“Taryn joins us with a clear mandate: to help every single person at AURA reach their full potential. Her role is not just about growing the team, but about strengthening our culture, sharpening our standards, and ensuring we continue to build a company worthy of the mission we serve.”
Winer brings extensive experience leading people strategy in high-growth, international environments. Her appointment comes as AURA executes on its ambitious post-Series B strategy, which includes expanding its on-demand private security response model in the United States, as well as continuing to grow its impact in markets across Africa and the United Kingdom.
Commenting on her appointment, Winer said: “I’m thrilled to join AURA at such a defining moment in its journey. AURA’s mission, to build global infrastructure that protects people when it matters most, is both urgent and deeply meaningful. My aim is to position AURA as an employer of choice in South Africa, the United States, and all the markets in which we operate: a company which offers its employees both purpose and growth.”
“My focus will be on creating an environment where exceptional people can do their best and most meaningful work. As AURA expands across the United States and beyond, we have a unique opportunity to build not just a global company, but a truly world-class culture.”
“AURA has always been defined by extraordinary people united behind a shared purpose,” Myers added. “Taryn will help us galvanise that even further as we continue building a world where everyone, everywhere, feels safe.”
AURA was born in 2017 out of the critical need to make private emergency and security response services more accessible and affordable. As a result, AURA has created South Africa’s largest response network of over 3000 security and medical responders. Regardless of income brackets South Africans can now access security and medical response services instantly using a connected device. AURA integrates smart and scalable technology into existing customer portals, for instance, using API integration, WhatsApp, customised apps, or various IoT devices. Consequently, users are now able to offer their staff and customers instant emergency assistance as a free or paid for value-added service.
